The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has taken possession of 4,173.5kg of Canadian Loud, a high-potency cannabis strain, at Tincan Island Port in Lagos. The consignment is valued at ₦10.4 billion.

According to NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the operation followed more than two months of intelligence work and surveillance. The container departed Toronto, Canada on March 28, was transported by rail to Montreal, and loaded onto the vessel _Jakarta Express Voyage_. It docked at Tanger Med Port in Morocco on April 15, where it was offloaded and transferred to the _Osaka Voyage_ before arriving in Lagos on May 9, 2026.

During a joint inspection on May 12, NDLEA officers alongside the Nigeria Customs Service and international partners from the UK, US, and Canada, uncovered the drugs. They were hidden inside a used Ford bus and a Mercedes-Benz C300 packed within the container.

NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), praised the Tin Can Command and the Marine Intelligence Unit for their role in the operation. He noted that the scale of recent seizures suggests a deliberate effort by international drug networks to flood Nigeria with synthetic cannabis.

The operation comes four days after NDLEA uncovered 2,326kg of the same substance worth over ₦5.8 billion during a raid on a Lekki mansion.
