Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has maintained that he will continue his campaign for the 2027 presidential election despite a Federal High Court judgment invalidating his nomination under the African Democratic Congress.

The ruling, delivered in Abuja on Thursday, November 5, followed a legal challenge by former ADC deputy national chairman Nafiu Bala Gombe, who questioned the legitimacy of the party’s leadership structure.
Justice Peter Lifu reportedly nullified the processes through which the David Mark-led national leadership emerged, as well as the party’s presidential primary that produced Atiku as its candidate.
However, the former vice president has rejected the development, describing the court decision as an attempt to undermine his political ambition and weaken the opposition ahead of the next general election.
The ADC has also indicated its intention to challenge the judgment at the Court of Appeal.
The development has introduced fresh uncertainty into the opposition’s preparations for the 2027 elections, particularly as the party considers its next legal steps.
Atiku, who contested the 2023 presidential election, is seeking another opportunity to challenge President Bola Tinubu at the polls.
