Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have destroyed a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist hideout and recovered arms during a clearance operation in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State.

According to sources, the operation was carried out at about 9:30 a.m. on Saturday following credible intelligence on terrorist movement around the Layi general area.

Troops of 145 Battalion (Mechanised)*, led by the Commanding Officer, mobilised to the location. On sighting the advancing soldiers, the terrorists fled in disarray.
The troops overran and destroyed the hideout. A search of the area led to the recovery of one pump-action rifle and three AK-47 magazines abandoned by the fleeing insurgents.
The troops also advanced to Mallamti Ganyawa village as part of the operation but made no contact with terrorists.
The operation was completed without casualties, and the troops returned safely to base at about 2:45 p.m.
Military sources described the general security situation in the area as relatively calm but unpredictable, adding that troops remain on high alert while sustaining offensive operations against terrorist elements across the theatre.
