The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has kept the venue of its presidential campaign flag-off in Sokoto State secret ahead of today’s kickoff, citing security concerns and alleged plots to disrupt the event.

The rally is scheduled for today, Wednesday, November 4, 2026, as the party begins activities for the 2027 general elections.
The party’s presidential campaign committee spokesman, Dahiru Maishanu, said the ADC has secured a venue but will not disclose it pending clearance from its national headquarters.
“We have secured a place for the campaign rally, but due to one or two reasons, I may not be able to disclose that for now. If time permits and I get clearance from the national headquarters, you will be briefed,” Maishanu said.
He said the party has reported the alleged plot to the police and the Department of State Services (DSS), and that both agencies have assured it of protection.
The development comes amid heightened tension in Sokoto after the state government sealed the ADC’s state campaign office. The government, through Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Nasiru Aliyu Dantsoho, said the action followed a violent confrontation between supporters and a security report warning of further violence.
Dantsoho also said the property’s Certificate of Occupancy is still registered in the name of defunct Savannah Bank, and that the government has written to the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) for clarification.
Meanwhile, the Sokoto State Police Command confirmed it received a formal letter from the ADC requesting security coverage. Spokesman DSP Ahmed Rufai said the command is ready to provide maximum security for the rally.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, said all arrangements have been concluded for the flag-off and expressed confidence the event would proceed without disruption.
