The Ghana Police Service has arrested three Nigerian nationals suspected of involvement in a criminal network accused of robbing bank customers in Kumasi and surrounding communities.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command announced the arrests in a statement issued on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, and signed by the Head of its Public Affairs Unit, Superintendent Godwin Ahianyo.
The suspects were identified as Aboy Promise, 30; Favour Uwalaka, 45; and Kingsley, 35, also known as KC. A fourth alleged member of the group, identified as Chinedu, popularly called Alhaji, is still being sought by the police.
According to the police, the arrests followed an intelligence-led operation conducted on October 31, 2026, at about 11:30 p.m. The operation involved personnel from the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters and the Accra Regional Police Intelligence Directorate.
Promise and Uwalaka were first arrested at a hotel in Moshie Zongo, Kumasi. A search of their rooms reportedly led to the recovery of GH¢1,600, several mobile phones, a Royal motorcycle and a master key allegedly used to gain unauthorised access to vehicles belonging to bank customers.
During interrogation, the two suspects reportedly confessed to participating in the robberies and identified two alleged accomplices, Chinedu and Kingsley.
The police said the gang’s alleged method involved monitoring banking facilities, identifying customers who withdrew large amounts of money and following them before attacking them. They were also accused of using a master key to break into unattended vehicles and steal cash kept inside.
Acting on information provided by the arrested suspects, officers proceeded to another hotel in Dechemso, a suburb of Kumasi, where Kingsley was apprehended. However, Chinedu, also known as Alhaji, remains at large.
The police further disclosed that the suspects admitted to robbing a customer of GH¢15,000 at Asokore Mampong on October 27, shortly after the victim withdrew the money from Kwamang Rural Bank.
They were also linked to alleged robbery incidents around the Atonsu branch of Fidelity Bank, the Ahodwo branch of Access Bank and other locations within Kumasi and its surrounding areas.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has appealed to members of the public to provide information that could assist in locating the fleeing suspect. Anyone with relevant information has been advised to visit the nearest police station or contact the authorities through 191, 112 or the toll-free MTN and Telecel line 18555.
The three arrested suspects have been transferred to the Ashanti Regional Police Command and are assisting investigators with ongoing inquiries.
Meanwhile, the police have urged bank customers to remain cautious around financial institutions, watch out for suspicious individuals and avoid leaving cash or other valuables inside unattended vehicles.
The command also thanked residents for their cooperation, assuring the public of its commitment to tackling robbery and other criminal activities in the region.
