The Nigerian Army has announced the arrest of five suspected kidnappers in Yobe State and the recovery of arms and ammunition during a coordinated operation.

According to updates from the Army, the suspects were apprehended in an intelligence-led operation targeting criminal networks operating in the North-East.

During the raid, troops recovered AK-47 rifles, magazines, and rounds of ammunition believed to have been used by the syndicate. Photos released by the Army showed the five suspects standing beside the recovered weapons.

The Army said the operation is part of ongoing efforts under Operation Hadin Kai to dismantle kidnapping and terrorism logistics networks across Borno, Yobe, and other North-East states.

The suspects are currently in military custody undergoing preliminary investigation. The Army added that further exploitation is ongoing to track other members of the syndicate and their collaborators.

In a statement, the military reaffirmed its commitment to restoring peace in the region and urged residents to continue providing credible information to security agencies.

The latest arrest comes amid sustained operations by troops of the Joint Task Force North East, which in recent weeks have also rescued kidnapped victims and recovered weapons in Borno and Yobe LGAs.
