The Oyo State Police Command on Wednesday said it had launched a full investigation into an attack on the Nigeria Immigration Service passport office in Ogbomoso. The incident occurred late Tuesday night, June 2, 2026, when armed men invaded the facility along the Ogbomoso–Ilorin Expressway.

According to a statement by Police Public Relations Officer Olayinka Ayanlade, the officer in charge raised an alarm at about 8:45 pm after hoodlums scaled the perimeter fence at the rear of the building. Police operatives from the Command Monitoring Unit and surveillance teams were deployed to the scene on receiving the distress report.

Preliminary findings indicated that about five attackers assaulted two Immigration officers who were on night duty before escaping through the same route. The injured officers received medical attention and are reported to be in stable condition. The Command said surveillance and tactical teams have intensified patrols around the area and adjoining bushes to apprehend the suspects.

Commissioner of Police Olugbemiga Abimbola directed all operational and intelligence units to deploy available resources to ensure the prompt arrest of those responsible. The CP and the State Comptroller of Immigration have set up a joint task team to strengthen coordination between both agencies.

The police urged residents of Ogbomoso and environs to remain vigilant and report suspicious movement to the nearest station. “All information received will be treated with the utmost confidentiality,” the statement added.
