Operatives of the Department of State Services in Borno, working with forest guards, have intercepted a major shipment of medical materials suspected to be en route to ISWAP fighters. The operation followed recent intelligence-led strikes against insurgent positions in the North-East.

Security sources said the seizure happened on Friday in Kaga Local Government Area during a joint patrol along a route believed to be used by insurgent supply networks around forested zones. The coordinated raid targeted logistics channels feeding remote militant enclaves.

Items recovered include large quantities of painkillers, anti-malaria injections, antibiotics, and other pharmaceutical drugs, plus basic consumables thought to be for battlefield use. Sources added that the consignment was likely meant to restock ISWAP elements that sustained heavy losses during recent operations involving Nigerian forces and US-AFRICOM.

Officials did not share tactical details but described the interception as part of stepped-up efforts to cut off insurgent supply lines, especially those moving medical and logistical aid to hidden camps. Preliminary findings suggest the supplies were being transported in small batches to evade detection by patrols along forest corridors.

The confiscated materials are now in custody for forensic analysis as investigations continue.
