The attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam eastern Saudi Arabia has killed one person and injured eight others, according to the country’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA)

GACA said the injured were taken to hospitals for treatment, with their conditions ranging from minor to critical. Authorities have yet to disclose the nature of the attack or identify those responsible.
The incident occurred amid a series of attacks targeting Saudi Arabia’s airports and critical infrastructure, including energy facilities.
Earlier on Wednesday, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy reported that two people were killed and two others injured after air defences intercepted a drone targeting a facility at Saudi Aramco’s Shaybah oilfield in the Eastern Province.
According to the ministry, debris from the interception caused a fire in a contractor’s vehicle outside the facility’s perimeter. However, oilfield operations were not affected.
The latest incidents follow previous attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. On October 11, Saudi authorities reported that a projectile struck the airport, killing one person and injuring 11 others.
A day earlier, an attack on the same airport killed 12 people and injured 309 others, according to GACA.
The attacks have heightened security concerns across the kingdom as hostilities involving Yemen’s Houthi movement and the Saudi-led coalition supporting Yemen’s internationally recognised government continue.
In response to the growing security threat, the United States Department of State on Wednesday ordered non-emergency government personnel and their family members to leave Saudi Arabia.
US State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said the decision followed increasingly hostile actions by the Houthis, including attacks on civilian airports and critical infrastructure that have caused casualties and disrupted transportation.
The US Embassy in Riyadh has also issued a security alert warning of the possibility of further attacks as authorities assess threats to airports, oil facilities and other strategic locations.
The United States has indicated that it may also withdraw family members of diplomatic personnel from other missions in the region as security concerns persist.
Saudi authorities are continuing to assess the damage from the latest airport attack and strengthen security measures around critical infrastructure.
