A faction of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, led by its factional National Chairman, Nafiu Bala Gombe, has inaugurated its North-West Campaign Council as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The inauguration followed a strategic meeting of the party’s North-West Zonal Caucus with governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly candidates, as well as other stakeholders, held at Giginya Hotel in Sokoto State on Friday.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Director of Media and Publicity and Spokesperson of the 2027 ADC Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Christopher Okechukwu.

According to the statement, Alhaji Nuradeen Lawal Chindo was appointed Chairman of the North-West Campaign Council, NWCC, while Dr Bello Shehu will serve as Secretary. The council is expected to provide leadership, coordination and strategic direction for the party’s campaign activities across the seven states in the North-West zone.

Okechukwu said the Sokoto meeting was convened to harmonise positions and develop a coordinated political strategy to secure victory for the party in the forthcoming elections.

The inauguration ceremony was presided over by the Deputy Director-General (North) of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, Hon. Bala Sani Kumo, while the oath of office was administered to the newly appointed members by the Director of Legal and Litigation of the council, Chief Cletus Okoye, SAN.

The move comes amid a leadership tussle within the ADC, with the Gombe-led faction and the David Mark-led faction laying claim to the party’s national leadership. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, currently recognises the Mark-led leadership.
