The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has arrested two Europe-based Nigerian businessmen for attempting to smuggle cocaine to Paris, France, through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The suspects, Aliocus Godian Odife and Sam Blackborn, were intercepted on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, during the outward clearance of Air France flight AF 832 from Abuja to Paris.

This was disclosed in a statement on Sunday, November 1, 2026, by the Director of Media and Advocacy, NDLEA Headquarters, Abuja, Mr Femi Babafemi.

According to the agency, both men tested positive for drug ingestion during body scans and were subsequently placed under observation.

Babafemi said Odife, who claimed to reside in France where he works in a factory, arrived in Nigeria on October 21 for a short holiday. During interrogation, he confessed to swallowing 110 pellets of cocaine.

He later excreted all 110 wraps under observation. The substance tested positive for cocaine and weighed 1.901 kilogrammes.

Similarly, Blackborn was intercepted at the departure hall after his body scan confirmed ingestion of illicit drugs. He admitted to swallowing 90 wraps of cocaine weighing 1.559 kilogrammes and excreted all the wraps while under observation.

In total, the two suspects excreted 200 wraps of cocaine weighing 3.460 kilogrammes.

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), commended officers of the Abuja airport command for the arrest and warned Nigerians residing abroad against using their base as cover for drug trafficking.
