  1. EAT THIS, NOT THAT – NAIJA STREET FOOD EDITION.

EAT BOILED CORN + PEAR, NOT ROASTED CORN + BUTTER.

Roasted corn with plenty butter and pepper adds too much fat and calories. Boiled corn + pear gives you fiber and healthy fat without the excess oil.

EAT SUYA WITH CABBAGE WRAP, NOT WHITE BREAD.

That white bread + suya spikes your sugar. Ask for extra cabbage and cucumber. Less bread = less bloating and belly fat.

EAT BOILED PLANTAIN, NOT FRIED PLANTAIN.

Fried dodo absorbs too much oil. Boiled or roasted plantain fills you up and is better for BP and weight.

DRINK ZOBO WITHOUT SUGAR, NOT SOFT DRINK.

Soft drink = pure sugar. Zobo with ginger and small honey helps digestion and BP.

COMMON FOOD MISTAKES WE MAKE

MISTAKE 1: REHEATING RICE MORE THAN ONCE.

Bacillus cereus bacteria grows in cooked rice left out. Reheating once is okay, but more than once can cause food poisoning vomiting and diarrhea.
Solution: Cook only what you can finish. If you must store, refrigerate within 1 hour

MISTAKE 2: USING SAME FRYING OIL 5 TIMES.

The oil turns dark and produces cancer-causing chemicals.
Solution: Change oil after 2-3 uses. If it smells or smokes fast, throw it away.

MISTAKE 3: WASHING MEAT WITH SOAP.

Soap residue is poisonous. Water + vinegar or lemon is enough.
Solution: Rinse meat properly with clean water.

MISTAKE 4: EATING LATE AND SLEEPING IMMEDIATELY.

Food doesn’t digest well. Causes acid reflux and belly fat.
Solution: Eat at least 3 hours before bed.
