Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has approved a fresh 24-hour extension of the dusk-to-dawn curfew covering 10 local government areas along the Old Oyo National Park corridor.

The extension was announced Thursday by SSG Musibau Babatunde in a memo confirmed by the governor’s media aide, Sulaimon Olanrewaju. The restriction, which runs 4pm to 8am daily, was first imposed June 23 for 48 hours but will now hold until Saturday, June 27, 2026.

The affected LGAs are Oriire, Orelope, Irepo, Saki West, Saki East, Atisbo, Itesiwaju, Iseyin, Olorunsogo and Atiba. The measure follows the May 15 bandit attack on three schools in Oriire — Baptist Nursery and Primary, Community Grammar School and L.A. Primary — in Yawota and Ahoro-Esienle. Gunmen killed one teacher, beheaded another in captivity, and abducted scores of pupils and teachers who remain in captivity. Federal and state authorities say security agencies are working to free the victims, with Makinde vowing to secure their release.
