An Indian court has cleared former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of corruption charges related to a liquor policy, citing lack of evidence. The court slammed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a shoddy probe, recommending a departmental inquiry against its officials.

Kejriwal, who was arrested in March 2024, was acquitted along with 23 others. The court ruled there was no conspiracy or criminal intent behind the excise policy, contradicting CBI allegations that it favored private retailers.

The acquittal is a significant win for Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), who accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of plotting against him. The BJP denies these claims.
