The Federal Government has approved N48 billion for 12 selected universities to upgrade their engineering facilities. Each institution will receive N4 billion to either upgrade existing facilities or construct new engineering workshops. The beneficiary institutions include Federal University of Technology, Minna, and University of Ilesha, Osun, among others.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, stated that the funds are part of a strategic initiative to strengthen practical training, boost innovation, and enhance global competitiveness in Nigerian universities. An additional N20 billion has been allocated in the 2026 TETFund guidelines to upgrade engineering facilities in other selected universities.
