Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Desmond Elliot, has publicly sought forgiveness from Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, following disagreements linked to the recent APC primary in the state.

The lawmaker representing Surulere Constituency I knelt and prostrated before Gbajabiamila on Sunday during a meeting with top Lagos APC leaders aimed at settling internal rifts.
A video posted by Lagos Junction on X captured Elliot pleading: “I’m sorry. I have no excuse. I’m deeply sorry, sir. In our culture we prostrate. Please don’t be angry, Daddy.”
Gbajabiamila asked him to rise after the gesture.
Elliot said he may have acted wrongly during the primary and promised to realign fully with the party leadership.
This marks the second time he is apologising. Weeks ago on TVC’s Your View, he said the misunderstanding with his political mentor was not deliberate.
“To err is human, to forgive is divine. He’s my egbon and I learnt politics from him,” he had said.
The latest reconciliation comes after Gbajabiamila disclosed that President Bola Tinubu questioned him over intelligence reports that linked Elliot to the crisis around the Lagos Assembly speakership. The former Speaker denied the claims then.
Party leaders later stepped in and the Assembly crisis was resolved.
