Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has been arraigned before the Federal High Court, Abuja, over alleged unlawful interception of phone communications belonging to National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

El-Rufai, 65, faces three counts, including admitting to intercepting phone communications, failing to report individuals involved, and compromising public safety and national security. The charges stem from a February 13, 2026, interview on Arise TV’s Prime Time Programme.

The Federal Government alleges El-Rufai’s actions violate the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Amendment Act, 2024, and the Nigerian Communications Act, 2003. The case is set to proceed with investigations and trial proceedings.
