The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has suspended its industrial action in three Lagos State-owned universities.

The affected institutions are Lagos State University, LASU, Lagos State University of Education, LASUED, and Lagos State University of Science and Technology, LASUSTECH.
The union announced the suspension on Friday, directing its members to return to classrooms with immediate effect.
The decision followed negotiations between the union and the Lagos State Government over improved staff welfare and implementation of outstanding agreements.
In a joint statement, the union leaders described the development as a significant milestone in their struggle for better working conditions and fulfilment of previously reached agreements.
The statement was jointly signed by Olusegun Babalola, Coordinator of the Steering Committee, ASUU-LASU; Grace Abimbola, Acting Chairman, ASUU-LASUED; and Murisiku Onigemo, Chairman, ASUU-LASUSTECH.
The union thanked the media, civil society organisations, traditional rulers, students, parents and other stakeholders who supported them during the negotiation period.
It specifically appreciated pro-worker groups, including the Joint Action Front, JAF, Education Rights Concern, ERC, and Campaign for Democratic Workers Rights, CDWR, for their advocacy for quality public education.
The union also acknowledged the patience shown by students and parents during the strike and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining academic standards.
