The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, Federal Polytechnic Ngodo-Isuochi chapter has issued a 21-day ultimatum to the institution’s management over what it describes as persistent neglect of staff welfare and breach of statutory obligations. The notice was contained in a letter dated May 26, 2026, signed by the chapter chairman Mr Ador Osundu and secretary Mr Onyeneke Arrhenius and addressed to Rector Dr. Pdi Ndubuisi. The union said the ultimatum took effect from the date of receipt and warned that failure to resolve the issues within 21 days would force it to activate all lawful trade union mechanisms, including industrial action.

ASUP said repeated efforts through dialogue, congresses and official letters had failed to yield results, creating industrial tension, eroding trust and threatening the stability of the polytechnic. The union cited several unresolved matters bordering on labour, health and anti-corruption laws. Management was accused of failing to invite National Housing Fund officials for staff sensitization and enrollment in violation of the NHF Act, which requires employers to cooperate with deductions and remittances. The union also faulted the institution for not facilitating National Health Insurance Authority enrollment for staff, thereby denying access to affordable healthcare guaranteed under the NHIA Act 2022 and the National Health Act 2014. ASUP further raised concerns over the alleged diversion of funds approved for a borehole project into a personal account.
The chapter insisted that the issues must be addressed within the ultimatum period to prevent disruption of academic activities and further deterioration of staff morale.
