APC GOVERNORS INSIST PARTY REMAINS UNITED AMID CONSENSUS ROW.

Governors on the platform of the All Progressives Congress have pushed back against reports of a split, saying the party is still united ahead of the 2027 polls.

The response follows growing debate over the use of consensus candidates in some states. In Yobe, the leadership’s backing of former Secretary to the State Government Baba Wali has drawn resistance from other aspirants, who argue the move amounts to imposition. Similar concerns have surfaced elsewhere, with party members warning against what they call “forced consensus.”

Despite the pushback, the governors said disagreements are being addressed through internal consultations and do not signal a wider rift. They reaffirmed support for President Bola Tinubu and stressed that the focus remains on maintaining party cohesion and preparing for the next election cycle.

The forum’s statement appears aimed at easing concerns that internal disputes could weaken the APC’s position going into 2027.
