The Akwa Ibom State Government has come out to deny that Governor Umo Eno had any hand in the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s confiscation of a Lagos property said to belong to his predecessor, Udom Emmanuel.

The denial was contained in a statement released on Sunday by the Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umanah.
The government was reacting to allegations made in a viral video by ADC governorship candidate, Senator John Akpanudoedehe, who claimed Governor Eno reported the former governor to the EFCC.
Umanah dismissed the claim as “a deliberate falsehood aimed at stirring trouble and pitching people against each other.”
He stressed that both the Governor and himself have never written any petition to the EFCC against anyone.
“For clarity, Governor Umo Eno has not reported anyone to the EFCC. I also have not done so, not to talk of my predecessor. Let anyone with contrary facts come forward,” the Commissioner said.
Umanah further noted that the current administration has continued to show respect to past leaders by keeping many of their appointees and completing projects they started.
He questioned the motive behind the allegation, asking: “If the Governor had issues with the last government, would he have retained most of their people and finished their projects?”
The government urged political actors to focus on issues that unite Akwa Ibom people instead of spreading rumors.
Umanah added that the Eno administration remains focused on governance through the ARISE Agenda, with ongoing work in infrastructure, health, education, agriculture, aviation and tourism.
