The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed a deadly night shooting in Gwan-Ajang village, Foron District, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, which left five people dead.

Police Public Relations Officer, Alfred Alabo, said officers from Gindiri Division received a distress call at about 9:22 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2026, and mobilized to the scene. He stated the attack occurred while residents were gathered for a social event.
“When our men got there, they met some persons in pools of their blood. As I speak to you, five of them were confirmed dead,” Alabo said. He added that the location, which lies between Barkin Ladi and Mangu LGAs, has caused conflicting reports on where the incident occurred.
The Commissioner of Police has directed operational teams, including the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, to intensify response efforts. Alabo confirmed joint security operations with Operation Enduring Peace have been deployed and calm has been restored, with arrests expected as intelligence is gathered.
