Organizers have confirmed that 1,000 women will take part in the 4th edition of the Ogun Women Run, a 5-kilometre race scheduled for Saturday, April 11, 2026, in Abeokuta.

The women-focused event is put together by Brussels Sports Management Limited and is open strictly to women aged 25 years and above. According to Project Manager Emmanuel Odeh, this year’s run is aimed at market women and others with busy daily schedules, encouraging them to prioritize health and fitness.
Project Coordinator Ebidowei Oweifie said the race will be flagged off at the Sapon area of Abeokuta by 8 a.m. and will finish at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, where medals and cash awards will be presented. Prize money for the top three finishers is ₦500,000 for first place, ₦300,000 for second, and ₦200,000 for third.
Managing Director of Brussels Sports Management Limited, Yetunde Johnson, stated that preparations are in full swing to deliver a well-organized event. She noted that the initiative began in 2022 and has grown into a platform promoting women’s wellness, unity, and community engagement.
The Ogun State Government has reaffirmed support for the race. Commissioner for Sports Development Wasiu Isiaka described the event as aligned with the state’s vision of using sports for empowerment and improved wellbeing. Safety measures, medical support, and traffic control are being coordinated with relevant agencies.
The first edition in 2022 was won by Olude Kehinde Ajoke, while Aderonke Alabi claimed the top prize in the third edition. Registration for the 2026 race began March 5 at the All Stars Secretariat, MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Abeokuta.
