According to reports, the Anambra State Government has apprehended a woman, Mrs Osinachi Edeh, for allegedly burning her ward, Miss Amah Miracle, with a hot iron over suspicions of having a boyfriend. The incident came to light after the victim’s teachers discovered burns on her body and alerted authorities.

The victim, a Junior Secondary School 3 student, had used her guardian’s phone to call her cousin, but was accused of speaking to a boyfriend. The situation escalated when Mrs Edeh allegedly used a hot iron to scald the girl’s breasts, face, arm, and laps, leaving her in severe pain.
Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, has vowed to ensure the guardian faces justice, reaffirming the government’s commitment to child protection. “The safety of every child remains a top priority under Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration,” she said.
