Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate arrest of the developer and permanent seizure of the land where a multi-story hotel structure collapsed in Jikwoyi, Abuja, last Friday. The collapse, which occurred on April 3, injured several workers and prompted an emergency response from multiple agencies. Wike stated that the construction was unauthorized, and the FCT Department of Development Control had previously issued stop-work notices, which were ignored.

The minister emphasized the importance of following building regulations to prevent such disasters and announced plans to reclaim the plot for public use and prosecute those responsible. The incident has sparked concerns over building safety and regulatory enforcement in Abuja.
