A 43-year-old man, Idowu Ashafa, is in custody after the Ogun State Police Command found him with human body parts allegedly taken from a burial site in Ido Itekun Village, Igbesa. The arrest was made during an early-morning patrol on April 17, 2026, led by Divisional Police Officer CSP Solotan K. Owolabi.

According to police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, officers from Igbesa Division, under Area Commander ACP Folashade Tanaruno, intercepted the suspect carrying a nylon bag that held a fresh human head, two palms, and other remains. The tools believed to have been used to exhume the body were recovered at the scene, which has since been documented.

Babaseyi said the matter has been moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department for deeper inquiry and possible prosecution. He added that the command remains committed to ridding the state of criminal activity and urged residents to stay alert and report suspicious behavior to the nearest station.
