The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the results of the 2026 first series Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CB-WASSCE) for private candidates. According to the released data, 10,480 candidates participated in the examination, with 3,429 (32.72%) achieving credits in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics. This marks a notable 5.76% increase compared to the 2025 first series, showcasing an upward trend in candidate performance.

The examination process was not without its challenges, as 75 candidates (0.72%) had their results withheld due to examination malpractice. However, WAEC also demonstrated its commitment to inclusivity, accommodating 43 candidates with special needs, including 11 visually impaired, 4 with hearing impairments, and 4 albinos. Candidates can access their results on WAEC’s official platforms within the next 12 hours.
The results highlight the efforts of WAEC to improve the examination process and promote academic excellence. With the increasing adoption of computer-based testing, WAEC aims to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of its examinations. As Nigeria’s education sector continues to evolve, stakeholders are optimistic about the prospects of improved academic performance and a more robust education system.
