The possibility of fresh American military action against Iran has resurfaced after US Ambassador to Turkey Tom Barrack said an attack could take place as early as this weekend, amid stalled negotiations and renewed threats involving Washington and Israel.

President Donald Trump.

Barrack made the remarks during an interview with online commentator Mario Nawfal, saying President Donald Trump remained willing to reach a diplomatic agreement with Tehran despite the possibility of further military action.

According to the envoy, negotiations had continued for months, but he warned that Iran could face consequences if it continued to threaten the United States, its allies and countries in the Gulf region.

Barrack, however, stressed that removing Iran’s government was not the objective of any potential American response. He said Trump had made it clear that his administration was not pursuing regime change, questioning what would happen in the aftermath of such an operation.

His comments come as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues to advocate the removal of Iran’s clerical leadership following previous military campaigns against the country.

Meanwhile, reports have indicated that American and Israeli forces have been preparing for possible renewed attacks on Iran in the coming weeks. However, the White House had stated on Thursday that the United States would not launch fresh attacks before the November 3 midterm elections.

Barrack’s latest remarks have added to uncertainty over Washington’s next move, as diplomatic efforts remain unresolved and tensions across the region continue.
