The Traditional Religion Worshippers Association in Osun State has petitioned the Osun State Police Command, seeking investigation and prosecution of pastors who allegedly invaded and desecrated the historic Osun-Osogbo Grove. The incident, which has sparked widespread outrage, involved the pastors touching sacred symbols and proclaiming the supremacy of Christianity over traditional beliefs.

The Osun-Osogbo Grove, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, holds significant cultural and spiritual importance for traditional worshippers. The state’s government has initiated talks with representatives of both the traditionalists and the church to diffuse tensions.

The police have confirmed receipt of the petition and pledged to investigate.
