Three officials serving under Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde have resigned their appointments, adding to the recent wave of departures from the state government ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The latest exits involve the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo; the Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning, Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke; and a member of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Sunday Olugbenga Falana.

Their resignation letters, dated Monday, November 2, 2026, indicated that their decisions would take immediate effect.

Oyeleke, a former two-term member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and local government chairman, attributed his decision to dissatisfaction with the working environment in the administration.

In his letter, he explained that the prevailing conditions were no longer suitable for him to effectively pursue and fulfil the aspirations of the people he represented within the government.

Despite his decision to leave, he expressed appreciation to Makinde for his leadership, encouragement and support, as well as the opportunity to contribute to the administration’s policies and development programmes.

Falana, who hails from Ogbomoso, also communicated his resignation in a letter addressed to the governor through the Chief of Staff.

He thanked Makinde for appointing him to serve on the state’s electoral commission, describing the experience as worthwhile. However, he did not disclose any specific reason for his departure.

Meanwhile, Ojo had also submitted his resignation as Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, effective November 2.

In his letter to the governor through the Secretary to the State Government, the former commissioner expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve Oyo State but did not state why he was leaving the cabinet.

The latest departures come weeks after Makinde’s former Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi, resigned on October 12. The governor subsequently appointed Akinwale Akinwole as his replacement.

The series of exits has drawn attention to the changing political atmosphere in Oyo State as political activities and possible realignments gather momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.

However, the resignation letters of the three latest departing officials did not establish any direct connection between their decisions and the unfolding political developments in the state.
