British police have charged three individuals after an attempted arson at the northwest London offices of Volant Media, the parent company of Persian-language broadcaster Iran International.

The suspects; Oisin McGuinness, 21, Nathan Dunn, 19, and a 16-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons are all British nationals. They face charges of arson with intent to endanger life over the incident on Wednesday evening, April 15, 2026, at the Wembley premises.

Police said a suspicious vehicle was denied entry to the site shortly before an ignited container was thrown toward the building. The device landed in a car park and the fire went out on its own. No injuries or structural damage were reported. An armed response unit in the area pursued a vehicle that fled the scene. It later crashed in north London, leading to the three arrests.

McGuinness also faces a charge of dangerous driving. All three appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, April 18. The prosecution said it is believed the suspects were instructed to carry out the attack. The 16-year-old was remanded to local authority care with conditions. The case was sent to the Old Bailey for a preliminary hearing on May 15.

Authorities said the case is not being treated as terrorism, though counterterrorism officers are assisting with the investigation.

Iran International, known for coverage critical of Tehran, condemned the attempt and said journalists should not face threats. The broadcaster has previously reported increased harassment of staff and has strengthened security at its London office.

The Metropolitan Police noted that the incident follows other recent security concerns in north London, including an attempted arson at a synagogue and vandalism of Jewish volunteer emergency service ambulances. Deputy Commissioner Matt Jukes said London’s Jewish communities and Iranian diaspora have increasingly been targeted by individuals and groups seeking to spread fear.
