SUPREME COURT HEARS ADC AND PDP LEADERSHIP CRISIS APPEALS TODAY.

Posted by

The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear appeals tied to the leadership disputes in the African Democratic Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party today, April 14, 2026.

For the ADC, the apex court will consider Senator David Mark’s appeal against the Court of Appeal’s March 12 order directing all parties to maintain the status quo ante bellum. Mark is seeking a stay of execution of that ruling, an order restraining INEC from altering its records on ADC leadership, and an interim preservation of his leadership pending final determination of the appeal.

The ADC case runs alongside a separate suit at the Federal High Court in Abuja, where Nafiu-Bala Gombe is challenging Mark’s leadership and asking the court to stop him from acting as national chairman. INEC has already withdrawn recognition of Mark’s faction, citing the Court of Appeal’s directive to remain neutral.

The PDP appeal also listed for today involves its own national leadership tussle, with factions contesting control of the party’s National Working Committee ahead of congresses and the 2027 election cycle.

Decisions from today’s hearings could shape convention timelines, candidate nominations, and INEC’s dealings with both parties.
