A three-storey building housing students has collapsed in Anambra State, sparking panic with many feared trapped under the debris.

The incident happened late on Sunday in a student-populated area of the state. Eyewitness videos and photos circulating online show the building reduced to rubble, with residents and sympathizers gathered at the scene as rescue efforts got underway.

While the exact location within Anambra and the cause of the collapse are yet to be officially confirmed, sources say the structure was being used as a private student hostel.

Emergency responders were on ground working to rescue those believed to be trapped. As of press time, no official casualty figure had been released by authorities.
