President Bola Tinubu has approved the renewal of Professor Ayo Omotayo’s appointment as Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) for a final term of four years. This move aims to strengthen policy research amid national challenges. Omotayo, a Professor of Environmental Sustainability, was initially appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari in November 2021 and confirmed by the Senate in February 2022.

Omotayo brings extensive academic experience, having served as Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Director of the Centre for Planning at Lagos State University. His renewed tenure is expected to consolidate NIPSS’s role in supporting evidence-based policymaking and strategic leadership development in Nigeria.
