The Federal Government says Nigerians should expect an improvement in electricity supply within the next two to three days.

The Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, made this known in an update on the power situation released on Friday.
According to him, the recent drop in supply was caused by a combination of factors affecting both generation and transmission.
One major factor is the ongoing maintenance work at the Egbin Power Station in Lagos. The station is the largest thermal power plant in the country and accounts for about 16 percent of electricity fed into the national grid.
Tegbe also pointed to limited gas supply to some thermal stations, which has further reduced the amount of power available. In addition, damage to some transmission infrastructure has made it difficult to reroute electricity to affected areas, especially Lagos.
He said his team is working with operators to bring the affected generating units back in phases. The first set, he said, should return within 48 to 72 hours, while efforts are also ongoing to improve gas supply and repair the damaged infrastructure.
The Minister acknowledged the hardship the outages have caused for homes and businesses in Lagos, the Federal Capital Territory and other affected states, and asked residents to be patient.
The assurance follows days of complaints from consumers in Lagos and Ogun states over prolonged blackouts amid the current heat.
