The Osun State Police Command has arrested 18 suspects, including two community chiefs, in connection with a violent clash between Ilobu and Erin-Osun communities. The arrested individuals are facing charges related to attacking police officers deployed to maintain peace in the area. The suspects include Olaitan Bashiru, 53, Baale of Apeponroro; Tajudeen Aralamo, 65, Baale of Oke Ayepe; and Mustau Salam, 45, Oluode of Ilobu, among others.

The police recovered a single-barrel gun, a live cartridge, and a cutlass from the suspects. The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, coordinated the operation, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects. The clash is reportedly linked to a long-standing boundary and land ownership dispute between the two communities.
The police command has reiterated its commitment to upholding human rights and assuring that those involved will face the full weight of the law. The public is advised to remain law-abiding and refrain from acts capable of causing a breakdown of law and order.
