Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested 147 persons during a pre-dawn raid on suspected criminal hideouts in parts of Lagos.

The operation took place around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2026, under “Operation KO S’AYE III”. It targeted areas including Boolar and Super Ile-Epo, identified as black spots where hoodlums allegedly terrorize residents.

According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the sweep was carried out by a joint team drawn from different formations following credible intelligence.

During the raid, police recovered a cache of items believed to be used for violent crimes. The exhibits include 250 spent cartridges, 22 machetes, five battle axes, two knives, assorted charms, and substances suspected to be Indian hemp. Other items recovered were a pair of scissors and a lighter.

Adebisi said all 147 suspects are being held at different police facilities while detectives investigate their roles. She added that anyone found culpable would face prosecution.

Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, praised the officers for the professionalism displayed during the operation. He said the Command would continue with Operation KO S’AYE III across the state to dismantle criminal networks and ensure residents can live without fear.

Fatai also called on Lagosians to volunteer information on suspicious movements and hideouts to help police sustain the gains made so far.
