POLICE ARREST 11 SUSPECTED CULTIST, RECOVER ARMS IN DELTA.

The Delta State Police Command’s CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) has dismantled a cult killing network connected to recent cult clashes in Ughelli town. The command stated that the arrest was part of ongoing efforts to suppress cult-related violence in Delta State. According to Punch, Following recent cult clashes and killings in Ughelli and other parts of Delta State, Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Aina Adesola, ordered an intensified, intelligence-led pursuit of cultists and other violent offenders across the state.

In line with this directive, CP-SAT operatives, led by ASP Julius Robinson, acting on credible intel, arrested two suspects. Police Public Relations Officer for the State Command, SP Bright Edafe, stated that the suspects made confessional statements and provided actionable intelligence, leading to a coordinated operation across Ughelli metropolis and the arrest of six additional suspects. These include Richard William, Onorode Pius, Sunday Jakpor, Victory Ogbemudia, Raymond Arhiakpore, and Precious Wanogho, all from various communities in Delta State.

A locally made gun and four live cartridges were recovered from the initially arrested suspects. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects confessed to being members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity and admitted involvement in the killing of Alex Adanike on January 15, 2026, in Ughelli.

In another development, CP-SAT operatives arrested three suspects at a suspected criminal hideout in Sapele town on January 26, 2026. The suspects were identified as Kome Temienoro, Ogaga Omogene, and Biokoro Francis. A search of the premises led to the recovery of a wooden-carved pistol, a battle axe, a bulletproof vest, quantities of illicit drugs, and other incriminating items. A white Toyota Venza vehicle, suspected to have been used for criminal operations, was also recovered.
