PETROL IMPORTS RISE TO 5.9M LITRES DAILY IN MARCH AS DANGOTE SUPPLIES 48.2M LITERS.

Petrol importation into Nigeria rose to 5.9 million litres per day in March 2026, up from 3.0 million litres per day recorded in February, according to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority.

In its March 2026 factsheet released Monday, April 14, NMDPRA said the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals produced 48.2 million litres per day of Premium Motor Spirit, with 34.2 million litres per day supplied to the domestic market.

National petrol consumption dropped to 47.3 million litres per day in March from 56.9 million litres per day in February. Overall PMS supply stood at 40.1 million litres per day, slightly up from 39.5 million litres per day the previous month.

Domestic supply of PMS fell to 34.2 million litres per day from 36.5 million litres per day in February. Stock sufficiency for petrol was 21.2 days in March, down from 30.7 days in February, measured against a daily benchmark of 50 million litres.

For diesel, also known as Automotive Gas Oil, total supply fell to 10.3 million litres per day from 24.4 million litres per day. Domestic AGO output dropped to 3.9 million litres per day from 8.8 million litres per day, while imports declined to 6.4 million litres per day from 15.6 million litres per day. Diesel consumption was 14.5 million litres per day, down from 20.3 million litres per day. Stock sufficiency improved to 55.4 days from 47.6 days.
