The David Mark-led faction of the African Democratic Congress has expelled factional chairman Nafiu Bala and other top members over alleged anti-party activities.

The decision was taken on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at the faction’s national convention in Abuja. Senator Binos Yaroe, representing Adamawa South, moved the motion for expulsion, which delegates adopted on the floor.

Also expelled were House of Representatives member Leke Abejide, former deputy national chairman Kenneth Ehiator, Stella Chukwu, and Elias Adiukwu. Party officials said the affected members engaged in conduct “detrimental to the unity and progress of the ADC” amid the ongoing leadership crisis.
The expulsion comes as both factions continue legal battles over control of the party’s structure. Bala, a former Deputy National Chairman, heads a rival faction challenging Mark and Rauf Aregbesola’s leadership. The Supreme Court has scheduled April 22, 2026, to hear the substantive appeal in the dispute.
The Mark-led faction said INEC has been notified of the expulsions. Bala’s camp had not issued a response at the time of filing this report.
