A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki has thrown its weight behind a new opposition alliance aimed at unseating the ruling All Progressives Congress in the 2027 general elections.

The group, in a statement by its interim National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, said the PDP faction has formally endorsed the G-100 coalition an “all-opposition front” formed to tackle economic hardship, insecurity and other challenges under the Bola Tinubu administration.

The announcement came after the G-100 summit held in Abuja on Monday. Representatives of six opposition parties attended the meeting, including the ADC, PDP, NDC, APM, PRP and SDP. The summit focused on building a framework for cooperation ahead of 2027.

According to the Turaki-led PDP, the decision to join was driven by “the wailings of Nigerians groaning under the repressive APC-led Federal Government.” The faction said its participation will be based on *transparency, equality, data-driven decisions and egalitarianism.

Quoting Turaki, Ememobong said: “Our participation is anchored on the promise that the process will be hinged on these principles. Any result birthed by a process midwifed by these virtues will offer Nigerians credible leadership capable of alleviating poverty and insecurity.”

The G-100 initiative was convened by former APC chieftain *Salihu Lukman*. He said the goal for now is not to merge parties or pick a presidential candidate, but to “build the table before negotiating the seats.”

“We are not asking any political party to dissolve. Let us agree that we must build the table before negotiating the seats,” Lukman stated.

Notable absentees at the summit included Atiku Abubakar of ADC, Peter Obi of NDC, and Seyi Makinde of APM, all considered leading opposition presidential hopefuls.

The coalition argues that a divided opposition cannot defeat an incumbent party with the advantage of incumbency in 2027.
