OYO POLICE ARREST SUSPECTS OVER NATIONAL PARK ATTACK.

Th Oyo State Police Command Nigeria, has apprehended seven suspects linked to the violent invasion of Old Oyo National Park, resulting in the deaths of five forest rangers. According to Olayinka Ayanlade, the state Police Public Relations Officer, the incident occurred on January 6, 2026, when an armed group attacked the park’s office in Oloka, Orire Local Government Area, around 9 pm, using motorcycles and sophisticated firearms.

Several strikes have been reported.

The police investigation, led by Commissioner Femi Haruna, led to the arrest of the seven suspects, including the alleged mastermind, at various hideouts across the country. The suspects, identified as Mohammed Dangi, Abubakar Abdullahi, Sheu Usman, Toro Malami, Usman Alhaji Ummaru, Laolo Muhammadu, and Usman Alhaji Isah, confessed to the crime and revealed their plan to free detained bandits.

The police command reassures the public of its commitment to safety and urges citizens to avoid spreading unverified information. The success is attributed to Governor Seyi Makinde’s support and the Inspector-General of Police’s guidance.
