With just days to the Osun governorship election, the Independent National Electoral Commission says voter readiness is high, with over 1.9 million Permanent Voter Cards already collected across the state.

In a statement released ahead of Saturday’s August 15, 2026 poll, INEC’s National Commissioner in charge of Information and Voter Education, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, revealed that 1,906,390 PVCs have been picked up by registered voters. That represents 81.50 per cent of the total 2,339,233 voters registered in Osun.

According to the Commission, the remaining 426,842 cards, about 18.50 per cent, were not collected and have now been deposited with the Central Bank of Nigeria in line with standard procedure. INEC also disclosed that some voters whose cards were damaged, defaced or lost applied for replacements, and 6,101 of them were issued downloadable copies of their PVCs.

To promote transparency, the Commission said it has published the full breakdown of PVC collection Polling Unit by Polling Unit on its official website for public access.

INEC further assured political parties, observers, the media and the people of Osun that it is fully prepared to deliver a free, fair, credible and inclusive election on Saturday. The Commission urged all stakeholders to cooperate with officials to ensure the process is peaceful.

The Osun governorship contest will see 14 political parties on the ballot, with incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke seeking a second term.
