Detectives in Ogun State have arrested five suspected members of a group allegedly behind the theft and dismantling of trailers for illegal sale of parts.

The Ogun State Police Command said the operation was carried out by officers from the Ifo Divisional Headquarters following weeks of intelligence gathering. Key parts of a stolen trailer, including the truck head, were also recovered during the raid.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, the case began on June 6, 2026 when a trailer owner reported that his driver disappeared with the vehicle. After efforts to locate both the driver and the truck failed, the matter was formally reported at Ifo Police Station.

The Divisional Police Officer, CSP Olabisi Kamorudeen, then led a technical investigation. The major breakthrough came on July 24, 2026 when operatives tracked down and arrested a suspect identified as Odulaja in Ikorodu, Lagos State.

Police said information obtained from him led to the arrest of four other suspects in Ijebu-Ode the next day.

The suspects are being investigated for conspiracy, theft and receiving stolen goods.

Preliminary findings indicate the stolen trailer was dismantled shortly after it was taken, with the parts sold off through underground networks. So far, officers have recovered portions of the trailer and documented images of the wrecked vehicle as evidence.

The Command said the arrests exposed what appears to be a structured network involved in dismantling stolen trailers in the area. Efforts are ongoing to recover the remaining parts and track down other accomplices.

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun, Bode Ojajuni, described the operation as a significant win against organised vehicle theft. He called on transport companies, fleet owners and residents to stay alert and report suspicious movements to the police.
