The Nigerian military has achieved a significant victory with the neutralization of Abu Khalid, a high-ranking Boko Haram/ISWAP commander, and 10 other terrorists in a nighttime operation in Borno State. According to Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Abu Khalid was the second-in-command of Boko Haram in the Sambisa Forest and was killed by troops of Sector 1, working with the Civilian Joint Task Force, in the Komala area of Konduga Local Government Area around 11 p.m. 

This operation follows the recent elimination of another top commander, Julaibib, in the Gujba axis of the Timbuktu Triangle. 

Abu Khalid played a crucial role in coordinating terrorist activities and logistics in the Sambisa axis. The troops recovered five AK-47 rifles, magazines, bicycles, food, and medical supplies, with no casualties reported among the troops. Ongoing clearance operations are targeting the Sambisa Forest, Mandara Mountains, Timbuktu Triangle, and other terrorist hideouts in the North-East.
