The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Edo State has intercepted two trucks carrying 7,245kg of cannabis and arrested five suspects linked to an interstate trafficking ring.

NDLEA operatives made the seizure during an intelligence-led operation along a major highway in Edo, after tracking the movement of the consignment from a supply point in the South-South. The cannabis was concealed in compartments built into the trucks to evade routine checks.
The five suspects, all male, were taken into custody and are helping investigators trace other members of the network. Preliminary findings show the consignment was bound for distribution hubs in the North Central and South West regions.
Edo State Commander of the NDLEA said the bust disrupted a key supply route and shows the agency’s focus on using intelligence to dismantle trafficking structures. The seized drugs and vehicles have been impounded as exhibits.
The suspects will be charged to court once investigations are concluded. The agency restated its warning to transporters and drivers against moving illicit drugs, noting that assets used for trafficking will be forfeited.
