The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has set ablaze 329,865 kilograms of illicit drugs valued at an estimated N301 billion in Lagos.

The massive destruction is being described as one of the agency’s biggest drug-burning exercises in recent times.

The court-ordered exercise was carried out at Navy Town, Ojo, on Monday.

According to NDLEA, the drugs were seized in Lagos between April 2025 and May 2026, while others were abandoned consignments linked to cases that had already been concluded in court.

The haul destroyed included cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, cannabis, ephedrine, tramadol, codeine syrup, and other opioids.

NDLEA said the operation was done in collaboration with the Lagos State Government, Nigeria Customs Service, the Nigerian Navy, and the judiciary.

The agency described the exercise as a major demonstration of Nigeria’s commitment to dismantle drug trafficking networks and cut off criminal enterprises from their financial base.

Officials said the destruction sends a strong message that seized narcotics will not find their way back into communities.
