The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has uncovered an illegal herbal product manufacturing facility in Agege, Lagos State.

The agency said the discovery followed a report published by The Guardian on October 10, 2026, about herbal products bearing falsified NAFDAC registration numbers.

According to NAFDAC, its investigative team carried out surveillance and later found three variants of Asheitu Adams Bitters carrying NAFDAC Registration Number A7-1827L.

A check on NAFDAC’s NAPAMS portal showed that the number actually belongs to Greentol Cough Syrup, confirming that the number was fraudulently used on the herbal products.

NAFDAC said the Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer of the company was not around during the operation, but the company manager was arrested for further interrogation.

The agency is urging members of the public to report suspected illegal manufacturing activities via its Call Centre on 0800-1-623322 or 0700-1-623322, or via email.
