The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has acknowledged reports that an airstrike conducted on Saturday, April 11, 2026, may have affected a local market in Jilli and resulted in civilian casualties.
In a statement, the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the Service treats all reports of possible civilian harm with seriousness and empathy, adding that the protection of innocent lives remains central to all NAF operations.

Following the reports, the Chief of the Air Staff directed the immediate activation of the Civilian Harm Accident and Investigation Cell (CHAI-Cell) to proceed to the location on a fact-finding mission regarding the allegation.
Ejodame stated that the NAF remains committed to professionalism, accountability, and transparency in the conduct of its missions. He added that the Service will work closely with relevant authorities and community representatives to establish the facts.
While the review is ongoing, the NAF urged the public and the media to refrain from speculation and allow the process to proceed without prejudice.
He reassured all citizens of the NAF’s resolve to protect national security and civilian lives, and to address every credible concern with diligence and seriousness.
