Nigerian troops have seized over 400 Starlink satellite devices reportedly used by Boko Haram and ISWAP to coordinate attacks in the North-East.

The operation was carried out by forces under Operation HADIN KAI across Sambisa Forest, the Timbuktu Triangle, and other known insurgent strongholds. According to Sector 2 Commander Brig. Gen. Beyidi Martins, the equipment was part of the groups’ efforts to maintain contact and direct operations from remote camps.
Martins said the recovery forms part of a broader campaign to dismantle terrorist supply and communication lines. He noted that troops have been targeting routes used to smuggle fuel, food, medicine, and communication tools into hideouts.
He also disclosed that some local collaborators, either willingly or under coercion, had been aiding the movement of these materials into insurgent zones. The military, he said, is now focusing on blocking these channels to weaken the groups’ operational capacity.
The Starlink terminals, linked to SpaceX’s satellite internet service, have become a new concern for security forces due to their use in areas without conventional network coverage.
